Friedrich Seidenstücker

About 15.000 photos still exist of the photographer, who died in 1966.
Known as a flaneur the autodidact is also an important chronicler of the daily Berlin
life in the 1920s and 30s.
Animals in the zoo, housewives chatting, playing children or even homeless persons
were in the center of his photos.
Young women in, for that time very short skirts, who represented the 'new woman' which were
self-cofnfident, dynamic and independent were especially in his focus.
And if the skirt of a young lady jumping over a puddle might have lifted a little bit -
Friedrich Seidenstücker wouldn' t bug it...

...elaborate selection

Dodo - glamorous ladies and slick gentlemen

Bars, restaurants with dancing, theatres and revues in the Golden 20's in Berlin were her district.
Here the jewish artist and illustrator Clara Burgner found the modells and the moods for her works.
She loved drawing glamorous ladies with eton crops and slick gentlemen which loved
young women.
Her art is ranged between Art Deco and New Objectivity.

Berlin: best rolls!

In Berlin Prenzlauer Berg, Schönfließer Straße 12, you can find the oldest bakery of Berlin
which is also still family-run.
Everything is baked in old traditional manner..just like 100 years ago.
So don't wonder if you have to stand in line...such good pastries are worth it!
